Ingredients:
- 4 slices of Gouda cheese
- 8 slices of bread
- 1 cup of sliced mushrooms
- 1/2 cup of sliced onions
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter
Add the sliced mushrooms and onions to the skillet and saut until they are soft and browned, about 5-7 minutes
Season with salt and pepper to taste
Remove the mushroom and onion mixture from the skillet and set aside
Place 4 slices of bread on a clean surface and top each slice with a slice of Gouda cheese
Divide the sauted mushroom and onion mixture evenly among the 4 slices of bread with cheese
Top each sandwich with another slice of Gouda cheese and then place the remaining 4 slices of bread on top to form sandwiches
Heat the skillet over medium-low heat and melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter
Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side
Serve the Gouda Grilled Cheese with Mushrooms and Onions hot and enjoy!
